Conference and Festival at Once

Keynotes, sessions, labs, a hackathon, parties and yoga: the Digital Festival in Zurich was a successful mix of inspiration, learning, participation, exchange, networking and celebrating together with both old and new contacts.

For five days the participants were able to listen to inspiring keynotes presented by entrepreneurs, founders and visionaries, get involved during workshops and take advantage of the relaxed atmosphere to establish a network with like-minded professionals. The 12 keynotes and over 60 labs covered topics from User Experience and Design, Robotics, Virtual Reality and the Internet of things to cryptocurrency and data security. A particular emphasis was put on discussing the opportunities and challenges for the Swiss economy and society, rather than merely presenting digital trends and technologies of the future.

The biggest Hackathon in Europe

Out of 4,800 applicants, 575 programmers and hackers were selected to compete in teams during the HackZurich hackathon. They were given 40 hours to develop an innovative prototype that was subsequently judged by a panel of experts. HackZurich has been founded in 2014, grew quickly into the largest hackathon in Europe and took place within the Digital Festival for the second time in 2017.

Zürich Tourism at the Digital Festival

As a supporting partner, Zürich Tourism welcomes the initiative to connect and support the Swiss IT sector by bringing together different actors in Zurich. The Zürich Tourism congress bureau was present at the event as networking with the IT community is increasingly important as a way of attracting notable congresses and conferences for Zurich’s ICT cluster.

The third edition of the Digital Festival Zurich will take place in mid September 2018. digitalfestival.ch
