European Safety and Reliability Conference (ESREL 2015) in Zurich

The 25th annual European Safety and Reliability Conference ESREL 2015 took place at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich September 7-10, 2015. This is a premier forum for researchers and practitioners from Europe and world-wide to present their work and to exchange experiences and opinions about safety and reliability in energy, chemical, process and other industries, civil infrastructures systems, and about methods and techniques to model, evaluate and govern safety and reliability.

More than 600 participants from more than 40 countries from 5 continents attended the conference. They came not only to be a part of the high-quality technical program and to listen to exciting keynote lectures, but also because they wanted to visit Switzerland, particularly the city of Zurich, and to feel the academic atmosphere at ETH Zurich, one of the best technical universities in the world.

«Zurich played a key role in our conference. The city welcomed the ESREL 2015 participants with open arms, great weather, and superb logistics. At the welcome reception, held at the ETH focusTerra exhibit, the participants could see the geological history of the Alps and hear the traditional Alphorn music. They saw the modern side of Swiss hospitality during the superb gala dinner at the Zurich Kongresshaus, where they enjoyed the jazz played by the energetic ETH Band. Finally, they could fully focus on the conference proceedings thanks to the comfort and flawless operation of the ETH Main Building facilities and staff. The feedback we received was most complimentary: everyone enjoyed ESREL 2015! It was one of the best and definitely the largest ESREL conference to date.»
