More events, more participants: in 2017, Zurich registered a growth in the event market compared to the previous year.
The Destination Report for the period between January and December 2017 is now available.
The survey evaluated conferences and events held at 28 congress hotels and venues with a total capacity of 314 meeting rooms and an available event area covering 30,939 square meters (approx. 333,000 sq. ft).
The latest report shows a rise in the total number of events held in the Zurich region of around 10% compared to the previous year. The amount of participants and the overall event area used also recorded an increase. Furthermore, in a comparison of Swiss cities, Zurich’s convention hotels registered the highest average occupancy rate, ahead of Geneva and Basel.
Such a well-founded MICE Destination Report is made possible by drawing on the joint database of Zürich Tourism and MICEview. The market research firm, MICEview, gathers event data directly from the congress hotels in 34 destinations – including Zurich – on a daily basis. The report was also supplemented by event statistics that Zürich Tourism collects directly from hotels and event locations twice a year. The MICE Destination Report Zurich is published every six months.
