1,600 thought leaders, executives, scientists, and entrepreneurs from all over the world discussed the future of the digital world in Zurich.
Artificial intelligence, distributed ledger technologies, and big data are not only revolutionizing the IT industry, but are also influencing the balance of power in the world. At the seventh WORLDWEBFORUM, CEOs, professors, entrepreneurs, and visionaries from all corners of the globe asked themselves how these technologies will change the world. Master or servant – who are the winners and who are the losers of the digital revolution?
Speakers from around the world
Ueli Maurer, President of the Swiss Confederation, opened the conference with a speech on Switzerland as “the blockchain nation”. One of the high-profile panel discussions also focused on crypto currencies, their influence on the capital markets, and regulatory possibilities. Particular attention was paid to, among others, the addresses by James Monsees, co-founder of the e-cigarette company, Juul, and by Bill Wyman, former bassist and co-founder of the Rolling Stones.
Tracks at WWF 2019
Thematic tracks and interactive workshops gave participants the opportunity to learn about challenges and innovative projects in different industries. The tourism track was submitted by Zürich Tourism and presented trends and the digital transformation in the travel industry.
Figures and Outlook
In addition to 1,600 guests and 100 media representatives from all over the world, the conference registered around 570,000 livestream views in 17 countries.
The eighth WORLDWEBFORUM will take place from January 16–17, 2020 in Zurich.
