Team Building with Animals and a Tour of Zurich's Circular Economy
Andean dwellers in the Zurich Oberland
Alpaca Trekking
Lovable, curious and laid-back - that's how you can describe our companions this morning. Just 20 minutes by S-Bahn from Zurich main station, we reach Greifensee in the Zurich Oberland. A walk takes us to the Tumigerhof farm, where the Müller family not only grow fruit and vegetables but also keep free-range chickens, Scottish Highland cattle and alpacas. We are allowed to accompany the latter on a walk today.
First, Maja, the farm owner, teaches us the most important rules for handling the peaceful animals: never touch their heads, the alpacas don't like that at all. And don't let any animal graze during the walk, otherwise the whole herd will want to eat and it will take a long time for everyone to finish.
Afterwards, we get to meet our new friends for the first time. Pancho, the youngest alpaca, is just 10 months old and immediately the favorite of our group. After a short stop to graze next to the farm, we set off together. The calm animals set the pace - pure deceleration!
The two-hour trekking tour takes us along forest and field paths in the picturesque Zurich Oberland. We take a break along the way: the alpacas enjoy the lush grass and we enjoy freshly baked bread with chocolate and syrup water.
Back at the farm, we refresh ourselves with homemade ice cream and, with heavy hearts, say goodbye to our animal companions and our hosts before walking back to the station.
Pioneering Spirit in District 5

Lunch at Brenso
Restaurant
For lunch, we visit the Brenso restaurant
Owner and chef Lorenzo Dal Bo passionately explains his concept for avoiding food waste and the fair production conditions of his suppliers.
Over a delicious meal, we discover that sustainability not only feels good, but also tastes great. Lorenzo serves us various innovative starters, pasta with Bolognese or pesto and homemade chocolate sorbet.
The chef's Italian roots are clearly reflected in the menu. The fact that Lorenzo has not only made the pasta himself, but also many other ingredients, impresses more than just our palates.
Strengthened, we spend the afternoon visiting three other businesses in Zurich's District 5 that are dedicated to sustainability and the circular economy:
Our tour ends near Zurich Main Station. We finish with a cool drink on the terrace of one of the many cafés in the city center, reflecting on the many impressions of the day.
Our conclusion:
an inspiring break for active teams interested in innovation and sustainable concepts.
