Information Event by Zürich Tourism: Organizing Conventions for Associations

Zürich Tourism assists convention organizers in any way they can – from submitting the initial bid, to arranging the venue and hotel rooms, right through to compiling the accompanying social program.

On October 30, 2017, Zürich Tourism’s Convention Bureau, together with various partners, met with 57 interested clients at Daizy, in Zurich’s Binz quarter. “An extremely informative evening”, as one participant enthused.

Inspiring and Informative

For the ninth time, Zürich Tourism’s Convention Bureau invited (potential) organizers of association congresses to a networking and information evening. This year, the event was held at Daizy, in the city’s Binz quarter. The charming locale has capacity to host events for up to 450 persons and serves innovative, healthy cuisine.

In collaboration with several partners, Zürich Tourism presented the various options and support possibilities for holding conventions in Zurich. Professor Dr. Johannes Kabatek from the University of Zurich gave a first-hand account of how the 50th Annual Meeting of the Societas Linguistica Europaea SLE 2017 in Zurich had been organized. Next, Elements Switzerland GmbH and eveni.to AG gave a brief presentation of their solutions for registering participants and handling abstracts. Subsequently, the Daizy team treated the guests to a lavish apéro riche. While enjoying the delicious appetizers, everyone had plenty of opportunity to pose specific questions to the Zürich Tourism staff and their partners in the course of a personal conversation and to make new contacts. With stomachs full of culinary delicacies and heads bursting with information and inspiration, the participants finally made their way home after three highly enjoyable hours.
